Broadway Residences - timeline

After being completed in the mid 1970's (by the John Madin Design Group), a Tesco supermarket opened on the ground floor, there was also a Tesco car park and petrol station here for many years. But by the late 2000s there was a lot of offices to let, that weren't getting let.

Nothing much had changed to the offices in the early 2010s. There was a Costa Coffee inside of Tesco that was convenient at Five Ways.

By 2015, Broadway had been sold and Seven Capital had acquired the building for redevelopment.

By August 2015, Tesco had moved out of the building, also meant the Costa Coffee here had to close down (staff were redeployed to other Costa's around Birmingham).

Work to convert Broadway into apartments and flats began in early 2016.

In 2019, the budget supermarket Lidl had hoped to open a store at the Broadway Residences building, in the former Ladywood Middleway units of Tesco, but by 2020, the pandemic happened, and it never opened.

By 2023, the former Tesco car park, had become a public car park called Five Ways Metro Car Park, probably to encourage people to park their cars, and use the nearby Five Ways Tram Stop.
