In brief

The Cotteridge Church is the merger of three churches that were on one site between Cotteridge and Kings Norton, including St Agnes' Church of England, Kings Norton Methodist Church and Kings Norton Congregational Church, dating to 1903-04. All three were merged by 1980-81 and became the Cotteridge Local Ecumenical Project.

The Cotteridge Church - history

In 1903 and 1904 three churches including St Agnes' Church of England, Kings Norton Methodist Church and Kings Norton Congregational Church were built on sites close to each other between Cotteridge and Kings Norton on the Pershore Road South.

Nearly 80 years later the  Kings Norton Congregational Church had become the Kings Norton United Reformed Church.

Between 1980 and 1981 the churches elders met to discuss the future of their churches, and the result was a merger into one as the Cotteridge Local Ecumenical Project.

The Methodist Church was refurbished and from 1985 became The Cotteridge Church.

The United Reformed Church was demolished, and Cherry Tree Court was built on the site (corner of Woodfall Avenue and Watford Road, B30 1NR).

After St Agnes Church was demolished, a supermarket was built on the site. It was Kwik Save, but now The Co-operative Food! (Central Co-op Food - Kings Norton at 1876 Pershore Road, B30 3AS).

People moved out of the old premises in 1988, and into the newly merged church by 1989.

In recent year the B30 Food Bank has been located here.
