The Wellington is at 37 Bennetts Hill. A Grade II listed public house building dating to 1868-70. A blue plaque is now here for William Haywood, who had offices in the building.

The Wellington was built during 1868-70, with a Stucco Italianate front. It is a Real Ale inn, and a former winner of Birmingham CAMRA's Pub of the year award between 2005 and 2008.

The Wellington - history

The Wellington was built at Bennetts Hill during 1868 to 1870.

It was built with a Stucco Italianate front.

William Haywood (1876 - 1957) had offices in this building.

He was an architect and urban planner, as well as Secretary of the Birmingham Civic Society from 1918 to 1947.

He was recognised with a blue plaque during their centenary on the building in 2018.
